Visual Concept, graphic design and animation for the Rap! not Rape. A musical competition inititated by Frauenhäuser Steiermark.

This project zeroes in on the rap and hip-hop scenes, where lyrics often drip with sexualization, misogyny, and a tendency for glorifying violence, all the while clinging to outdated gender stereotypes.

By advocating for non-violent and respectful language in lyrics, young artists and creators have the opportunity to challenge and redefine the narrative within these music genres. This shift can contribute to a more inclusive and empathetic culture, where music becomes a force for positive change, inspiring listeners to reject harmful stereotypes and embrace values of equality, respect, and mutual understanding.

This is a Styria-wide violence prevention project in cooperation with the Verein für "Männer- und Geschlechterthemen Steiermark - Fachstelle für Burschenarbeit", which was specially developed for teenagers, young adults and children and is being carried out for the fourth time in a row.

As part of the workshops, a mixed-gender team works with the participants to shed light on the topic of relationship violence and violent language being used in various rap songs and their messages. A basic understanding and a more sensitive attitude towards language is developed interactively with the help of various methods, adapted to the respective age groups.

In order to reach not only schools, but also the general public, a competition is also held every year to award the best non-violent rap song written and awarded the "Styrian Prize against Violence".
